****WE ARE OPEN FOR 30 HOURS A WEEK ENABLING US TO OFFER PLACES TO CHILDREN WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE 30 HOURS FUNDING!****
Pebbles Pre-School aims to provide a high quality, safe, caring and stimulating enivronment in which children aged 2 to school going age will learn through play and activities which meets their individual needs.
The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework provides 7 areas of development and is the basis on which we plan, observe and assess the children (see Parents Guide to EYFS for more information). The pre-school offers places for 17 children. We are registered with Ofsted and as we are a committee run we are a Registered Charity.
We are based at Bulmer Primary School. We are close to Pedmarsh, Sudbury, Long Melford, Borley and the Belchamps, although children attend from a much wider area. As we are on the Essex/Suffolk border and take children from both counties. We have developed strong links with Primary Schools within each county, especially Bulmer.
Comments from our Ofsted inspection May 2018:
***Children are given good emotional support when settling into the pre-school. Strong bonds are established and children soon grow in confidence and become active learners.***
***Staff interact positively with children during play.***
***The small and friendly staff team provides a nurturing environment. It establishes strong and trusting partnerships with parents and outside agencies.***
***Children benefit from a well-balanced educational programme of enjoyable and interactive activities. Teaching is good and all children make good progress.***
***Staff promote children's understanding of the world very well.***
We were pleased to recieve a GOOD ofsted inspection if you would like to view the full report see HELPFUL LINKS.
Our Ratios
At Pebbles Pre-school we exceed the ratio of adult to children that is set through the Welfare Requirements:
2 year olds - 1 adult to 4 children
3 & 4 year olds - 1 adult to 8 children
Our ratio is no higher than 1 adult to 6 children and often lower.
This helps us to:
- Give time and attention to each child
- Talk with the children about their interests and activities
- Help children to experience and benefit for all the activities we provide
- Allow the children to explore and be adventurous in safety
- Enable the key person to carry out individual/group activities with their key children ensuring assessment of the children's needs and good progress towards the Learning Outcomes.
