Summer Term 2025- Week 4
LADYBIRDS THAT FLY (16.05.2025)
*STARS OF THE WEEK*
***I am so very kind….***
Oscar - You have had the best week. You were brilliant with the younger children at the park.Initially pushing them on the swings, then spinning them round which they absolutely loved. You did it for ages. Not only were you kind to the children but also to the grown-ups may doing the most amazing tidying-up.
Fergus - Your kindness was also shown at the park. When I asked you if one of the little ones could go in the big chair swing, you jumped out straight away and said 'Yes. of course' even though you had only just got in!!
Esme - You were really kind to Clover pulling her around in the rickshaw for ages in the garden, what a lovely girl you are!
Dear Parents,
Our theme this week was ladybirds. The children very much enjoyed making ladybirds with moving wings and I enjoyed using up the split pins which have been in the cupboard for at least 10 years! We used the spots on the wings to help us count as we drew and the older children learnt about doubles e.g. 3 on each wing equals 6. They will do doubles up to 10 in their first year at school but some children are very good at them now. It's good to get a head start.
As the year 6 children had SATS this week we were unable to use the school hall for P.E. so we decided to go to the park on Tuesday morning. We had an unexpected surprise finding out what Little Ruby was upto on her Pebbles day off - meeting her on a pony as she was just off for a ride.
On Thursday we had wild worship with Rev Claire in the Forest School site. The theme for this set of sessions is 'number' so the children worked in groups to find different amounts of natural objects in the forest and then listen to the story of Johan and the Whale, as there was one big whale.
Stevie had created a junk inspired art wall on the outside of the Pebbles building for the children to paint, although it seemed quite a few of the children painted themselves by leading against the wall. I think quite a few baths were had on Thursday night.
Last but by no means least the children went on the school playing field to start our sports day practises. The school sports day in Friday 6th June. So we only have a few weeks to perfect our running and obstacle skills!
Next week our theme is spiders. Not sure how Mandy will cope as she really doesn't like spiders but maybe she can show the children that you can overcome your fears, no matter how old you are! We will be making spiders for craft, singing Incy Wincy spider and learning about spiders amazing webs and the benefits of spiders.
Have a lovely weekend.
The Pebbles team.
