 ME AND MY FAMILY (20.9.2024)

  • *STARS OF THE WEEK*

    ***I have a 'Can Do' Attitude ….***

Mason - For peeling your orange all my yourself after Ruby started you off, it took a long time but you kept going until you had done it all, well done?'

Ambrose - We love your fearless attitude to physical activities - you trackled a tricky obstacle course all on your own!

Alivia - For saying 'I can do it' when Rebecca offered to write your name on your drawing and then having a go at copying all the letters, brilliant!

    Dear Parents,

The children made some fantastic faces from paper plates representing themselves.  They used mirrors to look at their hair and eye colour and added other facial features including ears suggested by Henry and Oscar added eyebrows - very impressive.  We sorted the children and teachers by eye and hair colour and found out we have a very high number of Pebbles with blonde hair and blue eyes.  With this activity we were able to use mathmatical language such as most/more and least/smallest group and help the older children to understand what these words mean.

More of the children shared their family photos so thank you to the parents for taking the time to email them or in Maisie's case make a little booklet, which was amazing.  We discovered how big and diverse Maisie's family is. She was brilliant at telling us who everyone was and where they lived.

As the photos show we have been doing more planting this week.  We now have some winter flowers for the children to water and look after which will hopefully keep our garden looking pretty through winter, well Autumn at least.

Next week we will be looking for children with good manners - I am afraid they have been lacking slightly since our return after the summer, but it's a good one they can practise at home and then the children can hopefully earn themselves 'Star of the Week'.

For our activites we will be focusing on Autumn.  These will involve making a collection of Autumn items from our walks and forest school visits.  We will be collecting different coloured and shaped leaves to do leaf rubbings as well as conkers and acorns.  Please do encourage your child to bring in things from nature that represent Autumn that they find when you are out and about.  We will be using the items to develop descriptive lanuage as well as learning a new song - 'I'm bonkers about conkers'.  I can not wait to share this with the children and teachers!

We hope you have a weekend,

    The Pebbles team.
