Maisie - answering when asked 'would you like milk?' by saying 'yes please' and 'thank you'

Avani, arayah and Brody - For always remembering to say please and thank you, we love your good manners

Oscar - For asking adults and children for things using nice sentences including please and for being helpful and kind.

Dear Parents,

Well the apples and blackberries may have been disappointing this year but the conkers definitely are not.  The children collected so many on their Wednesday walk underneath the most amazing conker tree down on the meadow and we used them to line the edge of the bug rug.  Lucas needs a special mention for helping Rebecca to count brilliantly to 78, very impressive. 

Stevie also brought conkers in from home in their shells - some spiky and some smooth so that the children could guess how many conkers were inside as well as describe and compare them.  The children also looked at the yellow autumn leaves and a collection of acorns.

In P.E. Rebecca asked the children 'what happens in Autumn?'  The children thought of squirrels hid their nuts and the leaves falling from the trees and Rebecca told them about some birds flying south, so we created movements to represent each of these.

We used large leaves for printing. The children painting them with a mixture of Autumn colours, making a lovely Autumn display on the window. 

We have started to learn the 'I'm bonkers about conkers' song and are adding our own actions.  We will continue learning this next week.

We had a lovely time at the forest school site on Thursday, where Mandy did find one decent apple so hopefully we will be able to do some apple tasting next week along with home grown apples from Stevie and Rebecca. We will also collect all different autumn leaves to compare the colours, shapes and sizes of the leaves, as well as creating a music composition to respresent leaves falling from the trees.

Next week our focus for 'Star of the Week' will be good those that are good/improving at tidying up.
