***I am good at making links in my learning….***
Maisie - We love that you encouraged others to 'smack our hands together like a crocodile' - a great respresentation.
Fergus - When choosing which birds to represent in P.E. you knew that an ostrich was a big bird that couldn't fly.
Ambrose - You made us all laugh by pretending that the plastic fence from the farm set was a harmonica.
Dear Parents,
We have spent lots of time this week learning about birds. We completed the bird feeders we started this week. Getting very messy mixing lard and seeds to put in the coconut shells that we hung outside on Friday - after the coldest night of the term so far, so hopefully they will appreciate them and they maybe empty by Monday.
In P.E. we moved like different birds - swifts that fly away (migrate- this word was introduced to the c hildren), ostrichs that can't fly but have long necks and peck the ground and we waddled like penguins. Finally, we developed the children's balancing skills by walking along the bar at the bottom of a bench like birds walking on a wire.
We are changing our large display board to represent the four season with a focus on what birds go at different times of the year. So far we have created Autumn trees, using our collection of leaves from our walk to help identify the colour change that leaves go through in Autumn and we have added swifts that are migrated.
We also learnt 'Kookaburra sits in the gum tree' with verses that the teachers didn't know and 'chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken' with Makaton signs.
Next week we will be continue to add items to our seasons display. We will develop our Autumn theme to include pumpkins that are different colours and sizes so we can compare them and develop the children's observation skills. We will start to make pumpkins of our own from papier mache and we will make pumpkin soup for snack.
For 'Star of the Week' we will be looking for children that are good at using their inside voices, especially after lunch.
We hope you have a weekend,
The Pebbles team.
