***I am good at using my indoor voice….***
Zac - You have used a lovely indoor voice this week and your play has been much calmer,
this has made the teachers very happy!
Brody - You always use a good level voice that is clear but not too loud, just what we like at Pebbles!
Ruby - You have worked really hard on using a quieter voice indoors at Pebbles and we have really noticed the difference, thank you so much!
Dear Parents,
Our bird theme continued in craft and P.E this week with the making of Robins that were brought home or put up in our winter window on the display board. We also repeated the same birds as last week in P.E. and the children tried hard to move so that they represented each type of bird. This encouraged them to think about specific body parts and move them in a certain way. We also played the larva game with the P.E. spots which they loved.
In circle time we compared the different pumpkins, encouraging descriptive words such as smaller, bigger, longer, stripey, smooth, round, nobbly, etc. We used one of the large pumpkins to make pumpkin soup with the children for snack. It didn't go down that well with many of them - only Maisie, Lara and Lucas earnt themselves 3 stickers for drinking it all, but lots of the children got one sticker for trying it, which is what we encourage at Pebbles.
Ruby started her mammoth task of making papier mache pumpkins which we are hoping will dry quickly and be hanging from the ceiling ready for Halloween.
Again we have spent lots of time outside enjoying the old, but new to Pebbles goal in the garden and the tool station with a pretend electric chainsaw, screwsdrivers and normal saw; as well as hand tools and nut and bolts which the children loved playing with in the outdoor play area (too noisy for the teachers indoors).
Next week will be Halloween week - although we limit it to pumpkin making and the 'Funny Bones' books. We will have a go at learning 'dem bones, dem bones gonna walk around' song. If any of the children want to come in halloween outfits that is fine, but if there are masks could you please pop them in a bag, as some mask do scar the younger children. That way we can have a look at the mask and which children we have in before deciding whether they can be worn.
For 'Star of the Week' we will be looking for children the get involved and concentrate.
We hope you have a weekend,
The Pebbles team.
