Dear Parents,
What a lovely week we have had. The children loved having a classroom as their roleplay area. Writing and drawing on the whiteboards, putting their hands up to answer the teacher's questions and learning about shapes, numbers and letters. Oscar did P.E. with the children asking them which colour spot they would like and encouraging them to do the right makaton sign just like Rebecca does in the school hall. Good job Oscar. Ruby was also a very good teacher in the classroom, reminding the children to put their hands up and asking them questions.
The children made their own school books with Mandy. They personalised their book with a picture and all had a go at writing thei own name on the front. Hopefully, the books kept them entertain when they got home.
Thursday was World Book Day so our Thursday children came into Pebbles dressed-up and sat brilliantly to eat their 'Mad Hatter tea party' food when we went to the school hall. We were practicularly impressed with the children that experienced the school hall for the first time. It can be very daunting, but their were very few tears and lots of the children eat really well. Although the highlight of world book day for me is the beautiful, funny, emotional books the children bring in to share. It is so lovely to see how engaged they get in listening to the other children's favourite book and how much they love sharing their own.
Next week the children have choosen a hairdressers as their role play area. No cutting with real scissors we promise, but there maybe some interesting hair does! I know that the craft involves toilet rolls and the mallable activity includes rice but in what ways they will be used I have no idea. Decisions were made on Friday when I wasn't there!
